Is flood water treated differently from a pipe leak?

Yes. The IICRC classifies storm surge and river or canal flooding as Category 3, grossly contaminated water. Porous materials like carpet, pad, insulation and the lower part of drywall usually get removed, not dried. The structure is then cleaned, disinfected and dried.

What should you do after a flood?
